Fire Condition has a mission of educating and training firefighters regarding health and fitness so we may be better prepared to do our jobs but, more importantly, so we can reduce the damaging impact of a firefighter career. Appropriate and valid education and training for firefighters is hard to come by and in many cases difficult to understand. Fire Condition is committed to producing and recommending quality products and services that meet both the rigors of academic validity and real world application.
Currently Fire Condition provides:
- The initial launch of this web based resource for timely information regarding health and fitness topics for firefighters and the general public.
- A motivational video titled "The Heart of a Firefighter" based on a true story about an FDNY Fire Captain who suffered a heart attack while on the phone to his chief. Captain Liebeck was saved by his crew after being shocked four times. The most important point to this story for all firefighters to heed are the things he could have done to prevent that day and the signs and symptoms he ignored for fear of losing his career. This is the story of our deadly game of denial.
- Apparel/workout clothing with the Anatomical Firefighter symbolizing a commitment to firefighter health and fitness.
The near future:
- Continued website development including more extensive discussions of health and fitness issues and training tips.
- A discussion forum by firefighters and for fighters to share training tips and questions. This forum will be monitored by Fire Condition to insure a theme of quality and ethical content.
- An expanded line of workout apparel featuring the Fire Condition logo and the Anatomical Firefighter.
- Product reviews including exercise equipment, supplements, and dietary trends or fads.
Late 2005, early 2006:
- Books devoted to physical education and training for firefighters as well as program development and implementation.
- Exercise videos covering the gamut of exercises and training programs devoted specifically to firefighters.
